Give ‘em the old razzle-dazzle!

When I see the colours on the black background of this hat-in-progress, I can’t help but think of coloured sparks, like fireworks.

And so I keep thinking of it as my Razzle Dazzle hat. So that’s what I’m calling it.

It’s my first real jump into using two colours in a single row, and I’m rather enjoying it. I’m knitting it from Paton’s Classic Wool Merino, some leftover colours from various projects. Except for that green; that’s part of a skein of tapestry wool, in approximately the same thickness as the rest of the yarn. I’m knitting it on a US 6 circular, a little tighter than I’d normally use, but I figured with all the colour changes it’d end up a little looser than I’m used to, so I could compensate this way. If it works out, great. If not, then I can rip it back and call it a lesson learned.

I’m fairly sure it’ll fit me. And if it doesn’t, well, I’m more than sure I know a few people who might like it who would fit into it a little better. So that’s a win-win situation.

Jakob is playing hide-and-seek. Can you find him?

  1. That looks great! No one would ever guess that it’s your first time using two colours in a single row. I have a hat from last year that’s like 90% finished, and I’d better start working on it again ’cause I keep losing hats. I don’t know what happens to them, but I don’t want to wind up with nothing to wear on my head.
