Joy to the thrift store world.

I do so enjoy my trips to Value Village. They allow me to bring home some very nice things. I decided to peruse the knitting patterns that they had, and while I had to pass by a few of the booklets (I really did want that Nordic Knits one, but since they have many copies, have had many copies for a while, and it’ll be a while before I’d knit anything from it, I decided it wasn’t worth it at that moment), I did pick up two nice ones. Paton’s Socks by Beehive, and Paton’s Afghans to Knit and Crochet by Beehive. In the latter, there are quite a few nice patterns, one of them being this:

It’s not the clearest picture, but the pattern is called Autumn Leaves, which seems to have a pattern very similar to the Branching Out scarf. It’s quite pretty, and I think that’ll be the first afghan I knit from this book.

I also picked up a How to Crochet book for my mother’s Christmas present. She’s been wanting to learn for a while, and she suggested that if I wanted to get her a good gift for Christmas, get her a ball of yarn, a crochet hook, and an instruction guide.

I really hope she was serious. :p

The grab bags of yarn yielded a lot today. Another large skein of some dark very-wavy-but-not-quite-boucle yarn, which will make another nice scarf for the craft sale. Lots of wool blends, too, which I’m quite happy about.I managed to get a small skein of 100% wool “French tapestry yarn.” No idea what I can knit out of it, since it is a very small skein, but I’m sure I can find something.

Nick has decided to make an appearance again, this time showing off his pretty white neck.
